Hello, I’m Michael Kimb Jones but a long time ago I decided not to use the ‘Michael’ part of my name so neither should you. Its a long story how this happened, maybe I’ll tell it someday.

In 2001 I began working as a professional web designer and developer after graduating from college. Since then I have honed these skills to include project management, idea management and digital product development and design.

Work

My major vocational activities are in the NHS (the UK Public Health Sector) at Barnsley Hospital Foundation Trust. I have worked in a number of roles to create bespoke web-based solutions including Intranet applications, clinical tools, data collection applications and the Trust public website.

Alongside working for the NHS I have developed a number of personal projects and worked with clients to develop websites, products and applications. You can check out some of this work over at my design business base6.

WordPress

These days I mainly work with WordPress because its free, great to work with and best of all open-source. I try my best to be an active member of the UK-WordPress community and have spoken at the national WordCamp event on the subject of WordPress in the public sector in 2009 and the evolution of premium theme marketplaces in 2010.

Projects

I have a few active projects but the ones worth mentioning are:

WonderThemes

A new and revolutionary WordPress Theme Marketplace which makes it easy to buy and sell amazing out-of-the-box website designs. Vendors can earn up-to 95% per-sale, pretty great right?

If you don’t know everything

IYDKE is a science, technology, space and engineering blog. In fact, its more of an information dump where I place any cool or interesting videos, articles or photos that I find on the web. The site also accepts user content so anyone who finds a cool documentary, book or science article can share on the site.

WPFixer/WPCMSGuy

‘WordPress Fixer’ (WPFixer) and the ‘WordPress CMS Guy’ (WPCMSGuy) offer services designed to help businesses and individuals make the most of the WordPress platform. The idea is still being developed and I’m still looking for partners.

Cover Art Review

A somewhat underwhelming music cover-art gallery/community. My hope is to re-develop this further once I manage to get some people on board. If you are interested in helping out, just for fun of course, then drop me a line.

DesignCheat (on hold)

A new design blog for digital designers to share hints, tips and resources.
