Hi Chris, strange way to get in touch!

I did have some success with Fasthosts and Umbraco. However, it wasn't the best solution. The main problem was lack of access to any true IIS settings and the version of ASP.Net installed over at Fasthosts which limited the application of Umbraco somewhat.

However, as I mentioned. You should be OK for most projects. Just point your SQL Server Manager to your Fasthost server and give Umbraco a SQL user account. From this its all pretty simple.

After this, your pretty much good to go.

Hi Mike,

I was just looking at the Umbraco forum and saw a while ago you were trying to install Umbraco on a fasthosts server. Did you get it all working in the end as a client of mine has already paid up front for 2 years hosting with them without asking me first! Doh!

Please reply via email, sorry to use your comment box, but I couldn't find a way on your blog to contact you!

Best regards,

Chris

Good luck with your project and welcome to the overcrowded niche of WordPress. :D Also, just a heads up, but I'm sure you are aware you are not allowed to use WordPress in your blog's domain name or URL unless you have permission of Automattic. It's a trademark and deserves appropriate respect accordingly.

I look forward to your efforts.
