Going Postal
The current string of UK Postal Strikes are now becoming a joke that is no longer funny.
Yes, I can see that its a difficult job sorting and delivering the mail. Carrying heavy loads, walking for miles in mixed weather conditions and for little job satisfaction.
But the Royal Mail has to see that their efforts to gain sympathy with the public and pile pressure on the government are simply not working. I, like many other Royal Mail/Post Office customers am seriously pissed off with the strike action. I have, at the moment, items stuck in the mail such as bank documents, business deliveries and a glut of CDs from PR companies.
My sympathy level for the strikers is zero. I just want my mail damn it! I don’t care who posts it, as long as its soon. And for this reason the Royal Mail should be worried.
There are now many private companies delivering mail in the UK, SMS and UKMail to name just 2.
I would now gladdy choose them over my usual postal service and I can imagine many other people and businesses are currently looking into switching to these services in order to bypass the next planned strike actions which are currently scheduled for:
15 October from 1800BST: Mail sorting offices and airports
16 October from 0300BST: Deliveries and collection hubs
17 October from 1200BST: Royal Mail drivers
18 October from 1200BST: Manual data entry centres
18 October from 1400BST: Heathrow world distribution centre
The Royal Mail now need to do themselves a favour and get back to work before the bad feelings coming from the public become untenable and they loose a lot of business.
