The death of E3??

The good people over at Joystiq have some bad news…

E3, the Electronic Entertainment Expo, the definitive video games show, has been cancelled.

This is by no means fair :( as I one day hoped to grace the scummy hills of Vegas and attend what can only be described as the Glastonbury of video game events.

The reason?

it’s clear that the days of an industry event attended by all the major publishers, spending big money, are gone.”

Shame on the industry… Shame… Sure it was an overpriced wasteful and somewhat sleazy way to promote the video gaming industry, but without it what will we, the gamers, have left to look forward to? :(

What now?

How will new consoles/games be announced? On faceless Web Blogs?? Via leaked videos on You Tube??? Is this how the industry hopes to save money as game development costs fly sky high???

I suppose there’s always PAX…
